Clara: Gurgle... STOP! Let me up!
Daniel: Keep your head down there until you cool off, Clara!
Officer Martinez: Sir, let us handle her. Please step back with your child.
Daniel pulled his hand back, allowing Clara to burst above the waterline, gasping and coughing for air.
Clara: Cough! Cough! Are you insane?! You pushed my head underwater!
Daniel: You burned my daughter's head with a hot iron, Clara! You're lucky I'm letting these officers take you out in handcuffs instead of doing something worse!
Clara: It was an accident! The iron slipped! I was just styling her hair for our family portraits!
Carmen: She was holding Lily by her shoulders so she couldn't run away! I saw the smoke from the hallway!
Clara: Shut up, Carmen! You're just a hired maid! No judge in Texas is going to take the word of a servant over a corporate executive's wife!
Daniel: They don't need to take her word, Clara. They have the 4K security footage from the hidden camera mounted above the vanity.
Clara's face turned completely white as she looked up at the tiny black sensor hidden inside the brass crown molding.
Clara: A camera? You put a camera in our master bathroom?!
Daniel: I put cameras in every room of this estate three weeks ago when Lily told me she was afraid of being left alone with you.
Clara: You spied on me?! That is an invasion of my privacy!
Daniel: This mansion belongs to my family trust, Clara. I own every square inch of this property, including the feed streaming live to the police department server right now.
Officer Hayes: Ma'am, step out of the tub slowly. You are under arrest for injury to a child and felony domestic assault.
Clara: Injury to a child?! That's ridiculous! She just has a little singed hair!
Officer Martinez: I can see the red burns on the young girl's scalp from across the room, ma'am. Do not make this harder on yourself.
Lily: Daddy... my head feels like it's on fire...
Daniel: I know, baby. Daddy's got you. Carmen, please go grab the ice pack from the kitchen freezer right now.
Carmen: Right away, Mr. Vance! I'll bring the burn ointment too!
Clara: Daniel! You can't let them take me out of our Dallas neighborhood in handcuffs! Think about our reputation!
Daniel: Your reputation died the second you put a five-hundred-degree heating tool against my eight-year-old child's skin.
Clara: I was trying to make her look pretty! Her hair is always a messy disaster just like her biological mother's was!
Daniel: Don't you ever mention my late wife's name again!
Daniel's voice boomed off the tile walls so loudly that even the two police officers paused for a split second.
Clara shrank back into the corner of the bathtub, her green robe floating around her in the dirty water.
Officer Hayes: Hands behind your back, ma'am. Turn around.
Clara: Get your hands off me! I want my lawyer! Call my father's firm right now, Daniel!
Daniel: Your father's firm won't help you, Clara. I canceled our joint corporate venture five minutes before I walked through that door.
Clara: You did what?! You signed the multi-million dollar merger agreement yesterday!
Daniel: The morality clause in our prenuptial agreement states that any act of domestic violence automatically voids all financial contracts and revokes your access to my estate assets.
Clara: You set me up! You installed those cameras to trick me out of my share of the estate!
Daniel: Nobody tricked you into burning a child, Clara. Your own cruelty destroyed you.
The officers pulled Clara up out of the tub, pinning her wet arms behind her back as the steel handcuffs clicked firmly into place around her wrists.
