Her Cruel Mother In Law Splashed Water On The Maid Until The Bride Recognized The Locket

The cold glass of iced water shattered against the polished marble floor, splashing freezing drops directly into Chloe's face. She gasped, the icy shock stinging her cheeks as her dark maid uniform absorbed the wet mess. The grand hall of the Sterling estate hummed with the soft chatter of high-society guests, but in this corner, all eyes were on the quiet girl kneeling on the ground.

Evelyn: Watch where you're going, you careless little servant!

Chloe: I'm... I'm so sorry, ma'am! I didn't mean to bump into your tray!

Evelyn: You ruined my custom silk dress! Do you have any idea how much this designer gown costs? More than you make in three years of scrubbing my floors!

Chloe: I'll clean it right away, ma'am! Please don't fire me, I need this job for my family's rent!

Water dripped down Chloe's chin, mixing with the hot tears pouring down her cheeks. She kept her head bowed, her trembling hands reaching out to pick up the broken glass shards before anyone else got hurt. As she wiped her eyes, a small vintage polaroid photo slipped from her apron pocket, landing face-up on the glossy floor right beside Evelyn's sparkling high heel.

Evelyn: Get your filthy hands off the floor and get out of my sight before I call security to drag you out!

Chloe: My photo... please, let me just grab my picture...

Before Evelyn could kick the small paper away, the heavy double doors of the bridal suite opened. Emma stepped out, looking radiant in a lavish lace wedding dress with a long silk veil trailing behind her. She froze when she saw the maid kneeling in water, her eyes drifting down to the glossy floor. Her breath hitched sharply as her eyes locked onto the faded polaroid photo lying near the glass.

Emma: Wait... nobody move. Stop right there.

Evelyn: Emma, darling! Don't look at this mess. This clumsy maid just spilled water everywhere and ruined the mood before your ceremony!

Emma: Be quiet, Evelyn.

Emma dropped down to her knees right on the damp floor, completely unbothered by the wet marble ruining the train of her wedding gown. Her hands shook violently as she reached down to pick up the vintage polaroid. The photograph showed two young girls standing in front of an old orphanage gate—one wearing a white dress and a silver heart locket, and the other wearing a tiny apron.

Emma: Who gave you this photo?

Chloe: It's mine, ma'am... it's the only thing I have left of my past.

Emma: Where did you get the silver heart locket in this picture?

Chloe: My little sister wore it... before they took you away... you were gone before I could stop them.

Emma looked up from the photo, her eyes widening in utter shock as tears spilled over her veil. Evelyn marched forward furiously, her lace sleeves waving through the air as she reached out to grab Chloe's shoulder.

Evelyn: Emma! Get up off the floor! What are you doing touching a servant on your wedding day?

Emma pulled Chloe up into a tight, fierce embrace, shielding the crying maid with her own body directly in front of the large US flag hanging on the hall wall. She turned toward Evelyn, her voice ringing out like thunder through the silent room.

Bride: This is my sister! Touch her again and this wedding becomes your trial!
