Chloe: Your wife?! Brandon, are you out of your mind? You told me you were single! You told me your ex-wife abandoned you months ago!
Brandon: I never said she abandoned me, Chloe. I said she vanished without a trace six months ago while I was away on business.
Lucia: I didn't vanish, Brandon... I was thrown out.
Brandon: Thrown out? What are you talking about? I searched every single hospital and city record for you! I thought something terrible happened to you!
Chloe: Brandon, look at her! She's a hotel maid! She's probably trying to scam you out of your money now that you're back in the country!
Brandon: Shut up, Chloe! Not another word out of your mouth!
Chloe gasped, her cheeks flushing red with anger as she pulled her hands back from his arm, glaring at the pale pregnant woman in front of them.
Brandon: Lucia, look at me, please. Why are you working in a hotel? And... your belly... are you pregnant?
Lucia: I am six months pregnant, Brandon. It's your child.
Brandon: My child...? Oh God... Lucia, I don't understand. Where have you been living? Why didn't you call my private line?
Lucia: Your mother took my phone, Brandon. The day after your private jet left for the European merger, she came to our apartment with four security guards.
Brandon: My mother? What does my mother have to do with this?
Lucia: She showed me fake divorce papers with your signature on them. She said you paid her to get rid of me because I was a low-class distraction from your family's business.
Brandon: I never signed any divorce papers! I love you! I spent six months searching for you while trying to keep the company from collapsing!
Chloe: Brandon, don't listen to this liar! Your mother is a respected woman! She would never do something so illegal and barbaric!
Brandon: Chloe, I am warning you for the last time, back away from us right now before I have security throw you out into the street.
Chloe: You're choosing a maid over me?! I'm the daughter of your primary investor!
Brandon: I don't care if you're the daughter of the president. Get out of my sight.
Chloe stomped her high heels against the marble floor, her face twisting in pure rage as she grabbed her designer purse and stormed toward the main exit, leaving the heavy glass doors swinging behind her.
Brandon took a step closer to Lucia, reaching out with trembling hands to touch her arms, but she shrank back slightly against her metal cart, tears spilling over her pale cheeks.
Lucia: Don't... please, Brandon. I've been working twelve-hour shifts on my feet just to pay for a tiny basement room down the street. I can't take any more shocks.
Brandon: I'm so sorry, sweetheart... I am so, so sorry. I swear to you on my life, I knew nothing about this. You are my wife. You are carrying my baby.
Lucia: She told me if I ever tried to contact you, she would use her lawyers to take my baby away the moment it was born.
Brandon: She will never touch you or our child ever again. I am going to tear down everything she built for doing this to you.
