The party guests began whispering loudly among themselves as the truth became clear.
Several respected business owners in the crowd looked at Julian with disgust and anger.
Julian looked around nervously, trying to find someone to support his terrible actions.
Julian: Marcus, listen to me, our mother is getting too old to manage the estate!
Julian: Victoria and I were just trying to protect the family assets for everyone!
Marcus: You protected the assets by isolating her until she felt helpless enough to sign?
Clara: I refused to sign their papers, Marcus, no matter what they threatened.
Clara spoke with a clear and strong voice that surprised everyone on the patio.
Clara: They told me I would not leave that room until my signature was on those papers.
Marcus: That is extortion and elder abuse, Julian.
Victoria stepped forward, trying to maintain her cool and arrogant demeanor.
Victoria: Good luck proving that in court without any solid evidence, Marcus!
Victoria: My family lawyer drafted these forms, and they are completely legal!
Marcus smiled coldly as he pulled his smartphone out of his inner jacket pocket.
Marcus: I do not need to prove it alone because the security cameras recorded everything.
Victoria gasped as she suddenly remembered the hidden security cameras near the kitchen.
Marcus: I installed cloud-connected cameras last month to monitor Mom's health while away.
Marcus: Every moment of you locking that door was uploaded directly to a secure server.
Julian grabbed Victoria's arm as panic finally broke through his calm face.
Julian: Marcus, please, we can talk about this privately like brothers!
Marcus: We are done talking, Julian.
Marcus tapped his phone screen to place a call directly to the local police department.
He placed the call on speakerphone so every guest on the patio could hear.
Dispatcher: Emergency services, what is your location and emergency?
Marcus: I need officers at the Sterling estate immediately to report elder abuse and extortion.
