The heavy front doors flew open, and four uniformed police officers stepped quickly inside the foyer, followed by two paramedics carrying a stretcher. The head officer looked around the room, taking in the broken crystal, the blood on the oak floor, and Jessica standing near the wall in her bright red dress.
Officer Miller: Nobody move! What happened here?
Marcus: Officer, over here! My wife is injured! She was assaulted!
Jessica: Officer, don't listen to him! He's lying! This woman broke into the house and attacked me first!
Marcus: I have full video and audio footage of the entire assault right here on my phone, Officer. It's already backed up to a secure server.
Officer Miller looked over at Jessica, whose hands were still shaking violently. He signaled to the two officers behind him, who immediately stepped forward with handcuffs ready in their hands.
Officer Miller: Ma'am, step away from the entrance and put your hands behind your back.
Jessica: Get your hands off me! Do you know who I am?! I run Vance Global!
Officer Miller: You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law.
Jessica struggled against the officers, screaming as they pulled her arms behind her back and clicked the metal cuffs securely onto her wrists. Her designer dress was wrinkled, and her polished image was completely ruined in front of everyone.
Jessica: Marcus! You can't let them do this to me! Tell them to stop!
Marcus: You brought this on yourself, Jessica. You've been hurting this family for years, but it ends today.
While the officers led a kicking and screaming Jessica out the front doors toward the waiting police cars, the paramedics rushed to Hannah's side. They carefully inspected the cuts on her hand and arm, wrapping them in clean white bandages to stop the bleeding.
Paramedic: She has some deep cuts on her hand and bruised ribs, sir, but she's going to be okay. We need to take her to the hospital to get stitches and proper X-rays.
Marcus: I'm coming with you. I'm not leaving her side again.
Hannah: The envelope... Marcus... don't leave the envelope...
Marcus reached down and picked up the yellow envelope with the red wax seal from the floor. He held it tightly in his hand, knowing that inside was the truth that would clean his family's name forever.
Marcus: I have it right here, baby. It's safe now. Everything is going to be safe now.
They carefully lifted Hannah onto the stretcher and wheeled her out into the warm afternoon sun. Marcus walked right beside her, holding her uninjured hand as they stepped past the flashing lights of the police cars parked along the drive.
As the ambulance doors closed, Marcus looked back one last time at the grand mansion. The house had been filled with dark secrets for far too long, but now the truth was out, and the long fight for justice was finally underway.
