A Sudden Change of Tone

Elderly Woman Turned Away From Hotel Owns The Entire Building

Eleanor did not raise her voice or raise a commotion in public.

She simply looked at the polished name tags on their dark uniforms.

Mrs. Hayes: I made a presidential suite reservation three weeks ago.

Chloe rolled her eyes and crossed her arms over her chest defensively.

Receptionist: Look, lady, I told you we have zero rooms left.

Receptionist: Please do not make a scene in front of our high-paying guests.

Mark stepped closer to Eleanor as if to guide her toward the doors.

Concierge: I can call you a cab, but you need to clear the desk line now.

Suddenly, the heavy revolving doors at the entrance spun open quickly.

The hotel general manager, Mr. Arthur Vance, walked into the main lobby.

He adjusted his dark navy suit jacket while carrying a leather binder.

Arthur paused instantly when his eyes landed on the elderly woman at the counter.

His face went pale as he recognized the face standing beside the luggage.

He dropped his expensive leather binder right onto the polished marble floor.

Arthur rushed across the open lobby with frantic and loud footsteps.

Chloe and Mark looked at their manager with total confusion on their faces.

Manager: Mrs. Hayes! I had no idea you were coming to Dallas today!

Arthur reached out both hands and took Eleanor's hand with immense respect.

Manager: Welcome to the hotel, ma'am!

Manager: Why didn't anyone notify my office that you had arrived?

Chloe froze as she watched her manager bow his head slightly.

Mark swallowed hard and took a quick step back from the counter.

Mrs. Hayes: Your staff was just telling me about the motel down the road.

Arthur turned his head toward Chloe with an expression of pure horror.

The room went quiet as the truth began to hang in the air.
