Julian: "What did you just say?"
Evelyn: "Julian, don't listen to her! She's crazy!"
Julian dropped his briefcase onto the floor and rushed across the foyer toward Clara. His eyes were wide with total panic as he looked at the crying bundle wrapped in Clara's arms.
Julian: "Is the baby hurt? Talk to me!"
Clara: "He's okay, sir. I caught him. But she dropped him from the second-floor balcony!"
Evelyn: "That's a lie! I accidentally slipped near the railing, and she jumped on me!"
Clara: "You screamed that he didn't belong in your life! I heard you! I saw you push him over!"
Julian turned his head toward Evelyn, his breath catching in his throat. His face paled as he saw the red mark on Evelyn's cheek, then looked back at the high railing above the marble floor.
Julian: "Evelyn... tell me she's lying right now."
Evelyn: "She's a bitter housemaid, Julian! Look at her, she slapped me! Are you really going to take her word over your own wife's?"
Clara: "Check the security cameras! Check the foyer camera right above the front door!"
Evelyn's face instantly went pale, her eyes darting toward the top corner of the wall where a small red light blinked quietly on the wall.
Evelyn: "Julian, those cameras were turned off for maintenance today. The system is offline!"
Clara: "No, they aren't. Mr. Vance asked me to turn the main feed back on this morning at seven."
Julian looked down at his watch, then back up at Evelyn with a look of terrifying calm. He reached out his hands toward Clara, gentle and steady despite his shaking frame.
Julian: "Give him to me."
Clara: "Here, sir. Hold his head up."
Julian took his newborn son into his arms, tucking the blanket around the small shoulders. As soon as the baby was secure against his chest, Julian's gaze snapped back to Evelyn.
Julian: "You monster!"
Before Evelyn could take a step back, Julian raised his open hand and slapped her hard across the face. The shock sent her stumbling backward, her high heels catching on the rug before she crashed onto the marble floor.
Evelyn: "Julian! How could you touch me?!"
Julian: "You tried to murder my son!"
Evelyn: "It's not what you think! I lost my mind for a second, I've been so stressed!"
Julian: "Stressed?! You dropped a tiny baby over a marble balcony!"
Evelyn lay on the cold floor, clutching her red cheek in utter terror as Julian stood over her like an angry giant.
Evelyn: "Please... we can talk about this in private. Think about our family name, think about the estate!"
Julian: "Our family name is finished. Get out of my house immediately, you are going to prison!"
Evelyn: "You can't prove anything! It's just her word!"
Julian: "I don't need her word. I have the live camera footage on my phone. And I'm calling the police right now."
Evelyn gasped, pulling herself up onto her knees while staring at the phone in Julian's hand. She reached out toward him, her voice desperate and hysterical.
Evelyn: "Julian, wait! If you call them, everyone will find out the truth about who that baby really belongs to!"
Julian froze with his thumb right over the screen, his chest rising and falling heavily as he glared down at her.
Julian: "What are you talking about?"
Evelyn: "Ask your precious maid! Ask her why she risked her life to catch him!"
