The Video On The Phone

A Woman Dropped My Daughter From The Mansion Balcony

Marcus: Let's see what the cloud recording shows, shall we?

Evelyn: Marcus, wait! You don't need to do this! We are family!

Marcus: Quiet!

The foyer fell completely silent except for the soft whimper of little Maya resting her head against Marcus's shoulder. Marcus adjusted his phone, opening the security application while Clara stood up from the floor, wiping dust and sweat from her uniform.

Marcus: Look at this, Evelyn. High definition video with crisp audio recording.

Evelyn: Marcus, please... let's talk about this in the study, privately.

Marcus: On the video, you clearly lift Maya over the balcony rail with both hands. You can hear her screaming. And then you look directly at Clara, say 'Oops,' and deliberately open your fingers.

Clara: Oh my God...

Evelyn: It... it was a joke! I was just trying to scare the maid for being disrespectful!

Marcus: You dropped an eighteen-month-old child from a twenty-foot balcony to 'scare' a maid?!

Evelyn: I knew Clara would catch her! Maid instincts! They run fast!

Marcus: You are an insane, evil monster!

Marcus stepped forward, his eyes blazing with fury as he backed Evelyn up against the bottom stairs. His voice shook the crystal chandelier hanging overhead.

Marcus: You didn't do this to scare Clara. You did this because you found out about Arthur's revised trust fund yesterday!

Evelyn: I don't know what you're talking about!

Marcus: My father left eighty percent of his liquid assets in a private trust fund that transfers directly to Maya on her second birthday! If Maya dies before turning two, the entire trust reverts back to Arthur's surviving spouse!

Clara: She wanted the money... She wanted to kill the baby to take the trust fund!

Evelyn: That trust fund belongs to me! I spent six months taking care of that old man while he coughed his lungs out!

Marcus: You didn't take care of him, Evelyn! You poisoned his mind, kept his real family away, and tried to strip every penny from his estate!

Evelyn: He loved me! He wanted me to have everything!

Marcus: The court record says otherwise. And now, this security video is going straight to the Dallas Police Department.

Evelyn: No! Marcus, don't press charges! Think about the family reputation! Think about the Sterling brand!

Marcus: The Sterling brand will survive. You won't.

Evelyn suddenly lunged forward, reaching her hands toward Marcus's phone in an attempt to knock it out of his hand. But Clara stepped in front of Marcus instantly, grabbing Evelyn's arms and shoving her hard back onto the bottom stair.

Clara: Don't you dare touch him or that phone!

Evelyn: Get your hands off me, you filthy maid! You're nothing! You're a nobody!

Clara: I might be a maid, but I have enough decency never to harm a helpless child!

Marcus: Hold her right there, Clara. The police are already on their way.

Evelyn: What?! When did you call the police?!

Marcus: My phone automatically sends an emergency alert to dispatch whenever the balcony cloud camera detects a fall hazard event. Listen.

In the distance, the loud, wailing sound of police sirens cut through the quiet afternoon, rapidly approaching the gates of the Dallas mansion estate.
