Margarethe set her heavy leather bag down on the wooden table.
She took out a set of old papers sealed with red wax.
Victoria glanced at the papers but tried to look completely unbothered.
She picked up her wine glass and took another slow sip.
Victoria: Old papers will not change the current legal situation.
Margarethe: These documents prove the original family land trust exists.
Victoria: My lawyer will throw those papers out of court easily.
Margarethe: You cannot buy justice with stolen family money, Victoria.
Victoria set her glass down on the table with a thud.
Her fake smile disappeared and her face turned cold and pale.
Victoria: I gave years of my life to this family.
Margarethe: You gave nothing but lies and cruel manipulation here.
Margarethe pulled out a second folder from her leather bag.
It contained bank transfer records from the past three months.
The records showed large sums of money moving to offshore accounts.
Victoria stepped closer and tried to grab the folder away immediately.
Margarethe pulled the folder back and held it against her chest.
Margarethe: Do not touch what does not belong to you.
Victoria: Give me those papers right now, old woman!
Margarethe: You will answer to the police for these stolen funds.
Victoria laughed loudly, but her voice sounded nervous and sharp.
She looked around the quiet living room to check for witnesses.
No servants were in the house because she had sent them away.
She thought she was in total control of the whole situation.
Victoria: No one is coming to save you or that child.
Margarethe: The child is safe with his lawful guardians today.
Victoria stepped closer to Margarethe with a dangerous look.
She pointed her finger right at the brave elderly woman.
Victoria: You have no idea what I have already done today.
Margarethe: You cannot threaten me inside my own family home.
Victoria turned around and walked toward the private back wing.
Margarethe followed her with quick steps, holding her wooden cane.
They passed the large dining room and entered the private hallway.
The door to the back nursery stood wide open and empty.
Margarethe stopped and looked into the dark and quiet room.
Her heart sank as she realized something was very wrong here.
Margarethe: Where is the baby boy right now, Victoria?
Victoria: He is somewhere you will never find him in time.
Margarethe gripped her wooden cane tightly with both shaking hands.
She knew she had to find the child before it was too late.
