By late afternoon the grand mansion grew completely quiet and eerie.
Richard was scheduled to return home from his business trip very soon.
Victoria was pacing nervously near the top of the white marble staircase.
She held confidential legal documents regarding the family trust fund and estate.
She wanted Richard to sign over full custody and money to her.
Liam walked out of his room holding his favorite yellow toy car.
He accidentally bumped into Victoria's expensive green diamond dress as he passed.
Victoria turned around instantly with her face twisting in sudden explosive rage.
Victoria: Watch where you are going you worthless little brat!
Liam: I am sorry, I did not mean to bump into you!
Victoria: You are always ruining my peace inside this house!
Sarah was polishing a brass lamp at the bottom of the stairs.
She looked up in sheer horror as Victoria raised her loud voice.
Victoria grabbed Liam tightly by his small arm in total fury.
Victoria: Get out of my life and stop bothering me!
She shoved the terrified boy roughly toward the steep marble edge.
Liam lost his footing on the smooth step and began to fall.
Liam: Help me! Please somebody catch me right now!
The poor boy tumbled down the hard white marble steps rapidly.
Sarah dropped her cleaning cloth and sprinted forward with all her speed.
She threw her body across the bottom landing to catch the child.
Liam crashed directly into Sarah's open arms with a loud thud.
They rolled onto the carpet together as Liam sobbed uncontrollably in pain.
Sarah held him tight against her chest to shield his small body.
She checked his forehead quickly to see if he was badly hurt.
Victoria stood at the top of the stairs looking completely unbothered.
Victoria: That will teach you to stay away from my path!
Sarah felt a hot wave of intense fury rise up inside.
She stood up slowly while keeping Liam safe behind her legs.
Sarah: How could you do something so cruel to a child?
Victoria: Know your place maid or I will fire you today!
Sarah tightened her fists as she looked up at the evil woman.
The time for staying quiet and staying scared was finally over.
