The Broken Engagement Ring

A Wealthy Woman Fired The Pregnant Maid Before Learning Her True Name

Victoria staggered backward until her back hit the hallway wall.

The color drained completely from her face as she processed Arthur's words.

"Your ex-wife?" Victoria shrieked loudly.

"You told me your ex-wife moved away to Europe two years ago!" Victoria shouted at Arthur.

"She did move away for her studies, Victoria," Arthur answered calmly.

"She returned six months ago to take over her late father's legacy."

"We reconciled our past differences after her father passed away," Arthur explained honestly.

"We kept our professional partnership private until the legal trust was settled."

Victoria pointed a shaking finger at Arthur with rage in her eyes.

"You used me!" Victoria yelled, her voice breaking dramatically.

"You proposed to me three months ago just to hide your real connection to her!"

"That is not true, Victoria," Arthur said firmly.

"I proposed because I thought you were a kind, loving woman who shared my values."

"I gave you the benefit of the doubt every time my family warned me about your temper."

Elena remained calm, though her heart was pounding in her chest.

She had remained silent for months while watching Victoria spend Arthur's money lavishly.

She had seen how Victoria treated hotel staff behind closed doors when Arthur was absent.

"You only cared about his family's trust fund and status, Victoria," Elena said softly.

"I watched you complain about the size of your engagement ring last week to the jeweler."

Victoria turned her sharp glare back toward Elena.

"Shut up! You have no right to speak to me about my relationship!" Victoria snapped angrily.

"Actually, she has every right," Arthur interrupted forcefully.

He slowly reached into his jacket pocket and pulled out a small black velvet box.

He had planned to give Victoria a matching diamond necklace for their anniversary today.

He looked at the expensive box in his hand and shook his head with deep regret.

"I made a massive mistake bringing you into my life, Victoria," Arthur said softly.

Victoria's expression softened into desperation as she saw the velvet box.

"Arthur, please, let us talk about this in private in our suite," Victoria begged quickly.

"We can fix this, we don't need to listen to her narrative!" Victoria urged.

Arthur looked up, his face set like cold marble.

"There is nothing left to talk about," Arthur declared firmly.

He slipped the engagement ring off Victoria's finger before she could pull her hand back.

"The wedding is off, Victoria," Arthur announced calmly.

"Pack your belongings and leave this hotel by noon today."

Victoria stared at her empty ring finger, her body trembling with anger and embarrassment.

"You cannot do this to me! My family will sue you for breach of contract!" Victoria screamed.

"You signed a strict prenuptial agreement, Victoria," Elena reminded her coolly.

"There is no legal basis for any lawsuit against Arthur or this estate."

Victoria looked around frantically as two security guards rounded the corner of the hallway.

Arthur gestured for the security team to approach them immediately.

"Escort Miss Victoria to her room and make sure she vacates the premises safely," Arthur ordered.

The guards nodded professionally and stepped forward on both sides of Victoria.

"This is not over! You will regret this day, both of you!" Victoria shrieked as she was led away.

Her loud shouts faded down the quiet corridor until silence restored itself.

Elena let out a long breath and leaned against the wall for support.

Arthur immediately turned to her with deep warmth and anxiety in his eyes.

"Are you sure you are completely okay, Elena?" Arthur asked gently.
