David turned his body slowly away from the staircase toward the corner.
Anna stood near the wall with her hands folded together very tightly.
She was shaking from the intense argument that had just happened right there.
David walked across the wide marble floor with gentle and relaxed steps.
He held out the huge bouquet of white roses toward the young maid.
Anna looked at the beautiful flowers and then up into his soft eyes.
Anna: Mr. Vance, I cannot take those expensive flowers from you.
David: Please take them, Anna.
David: You deserve beauty and respect far more than she ever did.
Anna reached out her hands and took the heavy bouquet into her arms.
The fresh scent of white roses filled the bright hall immediately around them.
Tears of genuine relief flowed softly down Anna's tired face now.
Anna: Thank you, sir, but I can still clean the floor right away.
David reached out and gently placed his hand on the mop handle.
He pulled the mop gently away from her tired hands and set it down.
David: You are done working for the rest of this day, Anna.
David: Take the rest of the week off with full paid leave.
David: No one will ever disrespect you in this house again.
Anna smiled through her tears and held the white roses very close.
