Nathan walked back into the house holding the open box of stolen family valuables.
Brenda stood by the dining table, her posture stiff as she watched him approach.
Her eyes darted toward the front exit, but Nathan blocked her path completely.
Nathan: You were loading our family trust documents and gold into a truck.
Brenda: Nathan, I was moving them to a secure safety deposit box!
Nathan: Do not lie to me again, Brenda. Look at what is in here.
Brenda: I was doing it for our future safety and financial protection!
Nathan: My mother's diamond ring was in this box, hidden under paperwork.
Lily: Grandma said that ring belongs to me when I turn eighteen!
Maria: She had a list of all the jewelry values printed on her desk, sir.
Nathan set the box down heavily on the polished mahogany dining room table.
He pulled out his phone again and dialed his family lawyer, Richard Vance.
Brenda gasped and rushed forward, reaching out to grab the phone from his hand.
Brenda: Nathan, stop! Do not involve lawyers in a private family disagreement!
Nathan: This stopped being a private disagreement the moment you threatened my child.
Brenda: I never touched her! I only raised my voice to enforce discipline!
Lily: You raised that golf club at Maria when she tried to call Daddy!
Maria: She smashed my cell phone on the floor so I couldn't call for help.
Maria pointed down at the shattered pieces of her phone near the hallway rug.
Nathan saw the crushed screen and plastic case lying scattered on the floor.
His heart burned with absolute regret for bringing Brenda into their peaceful home.
He put the phone to his ear as Richard answered on the second ring.
Nathan: Richard, I need you at my house immediately with our prenuptial agreement.
Richard: I am on my way, Nathan. Is everyone safe over there?
Nathan: My daughter is safe now, but we have a severe emergency here.
Brenda: You can't just void our marriage because of a misunderstanding, Nathan!
Nathan: Watch me, Brenda. Your time in this house is officially over.
Brenda stepped back, her face turning pale as her calm posture completely shattered.
She realized that her carefully calculated plan was collapsing rapidly all around her.
Nathan motioned for Maria to take Lily upstairs to her bedroom for safety.
Nathan: Maria, take Lily to her room and lock the door from inside.
Maria: Yes, Mr. Sterling. Come along, sweetheart, you are safe now.
Lily: Please don't let her stay here, Daddy!
Nathan: She won't be here much longer, baby. I promise you that.
