Victoria backed away toward the wide stone steps leading down to the driveway.
Her high heels clicked loudly against the hard stairs as she moved down fast.
She turned back one last time to throw a furious glance at David.
Victoria: You will regret this day for the rest of your miserable life!
David: The only regret I have is allowing you near my son today.
The security guards escorted her down the long driveway toward the main gates.
Two Dallas police cars were parked right beside the tall iron entrance gates.
The red and blue lights flashed softly against the bright Texas afternoon sky.
Victoria was met by two officers who stepped forward with open arrest warrants.
They placed metal handcuffs around her wrists as the guests watched from above.
A heavy silence fell across the wide backyard patio as the police car drove away.
David turned back toward his brother and took his young son back into his arms.
Leo wrapped his small soft arms around his father's neck as tightly as possible.
Leo: Pappa, I am sorry about the big chocolate cake dropping on ground.
David: Oh my sweet boy, you never have to apologize for anything today.
David kissed the side of Leo's soft head with deep unconditional love.
Mark slapped a warm supportive hand against David's tired right shoulder with pride.
Mark: Father would be so proud of how you protected this boy today, David.
David: Father would have done the exact same thing to save our family.
The catering staff quickly walked out with brooms to clean up the ruined floor.
They swept away the broken glass and spilled cake within a few efficient minutes.
David carried Leo over to the soft lawn away from the messy patio area.
He sat down on the lush green grass with his sweet boy right beside him.
The air felt lighter now that the dark shadow of greed had left their home.
Leo smiled bright as he saw his favorite stuffed bear sitting on a nearby chair.
Leo: Look Pappa, Teddy was waiting for us the whole entire time!
David: Teddy knew that Daddy would take care of everything for you, buddy.
