Mark was away at his downtown corporate office for an important meeting.
He was finalizing a huge investment that would secure his daughter's future.
Back at the house, Vanessa walked around the empty rooms nervously.
She knew that Mark's trust fund was set up strictly for little Lily.
If anything ruined Clara's reputation, Mark would fire the protective nanny instantly.
Vanessa wanted to make Clara look extremely careless and dangerous to Mark.
Vanessa: You left the stroller near the top stairs again, Clara!
Clara: No, ma'am, I locked the wheels firmly right beside the sofa.
Vanessa: Do not argue with me in my own future home!
Vanessa stepped closer to the top of the curved marble staircase.
She looked down at the smooth floor below under the large American flag.
The stroller was sitting near the top landing with the baby resting safely.
Clara was picking up toys across the room near the fireplace.
Vanessa glanced around to ensure no other servants were currently nearby.
She reached out her hand and unlocked the safety brake on the wheels.
Then she gave the stroller a sudden nudge toward the steep steps.
Clara: No! Stop!
Clara turned around instantly and saw the stroller rolling toward the edge.
Her heart stopped beating as terror surged through her whole body.
She dropped the toys and sprinted across the floor without hesitation.
Clara: Hold on, my sweet baby!
The wheels bumped dangerously near the very first marble step.
Clara dove forward onto the polished floor with total bravery.
She slid across the marble floor on her knees to reach the handle.
Her fingers grabbed the metal frame right before it tipped over completely.
She pulled the stroller back to safety and pulled the crying baby tight.
Clara: You are safe now, my sweet baby, Mommy is right here.
Clara sobbed with deep emotion as she held the innocent child tightly.
