The toddler clutched the fabric of the dark apron with surprising strength for her little frame.
Tears welled up in the small child's wide brown eyes as she held on tight.
Sarah froze instantly as an overwhelming wave of heat flushed through her entire body.
The restaurant ambient noise seemed to fade away into complete and absolute silence around them.
"Mama..." the toddler whispered clearly in a soft and trembling voice.
Sarah dropped her tray onto the wooden table as shock coursed through every nerve inside her.
She immediately fell down to her knees right beside the high chair on the cold floor.
"Sweetheart... why are you calling me that?" Sarah asked in a choked and shaking breath.
The wealthy man in the suit dropped his fork onto his plate with a sharp clatter.
He stood up from his seat in complete astonishment while staring at the tiny young girl.
"My daughter hasn't spoken a single word in two years," the man said with great shock.
Sarah looked up at the tall man with warm tears streaming rapidly down her flushed cheeks.
"Daughter? They told me my baby died two years ago..." Sarah sobbed out loud in pain.
The man's eyes narrowed instantly as a look of deep realization struck his sharp features.
"Then someone lied to both of us," he said with a stern and cold authority.
The little girl reached out both of her arms toward Sarah with absolute pure joy.
"Mama!" the small girl repeated louder as she leaned out toward the kneeling waitress.
Sarah carefully wrapped her arms around the little girl and held her close to her heart.
The toddler rested her small head on Sarah's shoulder as if she had always belonged there.
The diner manager noticed the commotion and began walking over toward the emotional table.
"Is everything alright over here, sir?" the manager asked with a heavy tone of concern.
"No, everything is completely wrong," the tall businessman replied while holding his phone out.
"Call the police right now because we need an official investigation," he added with power.
Sarah held the child tighter as the truth began to unravel right before her very eyes.
