By sunrise the next morning, heavy rain tapped windows.
A sleek black town car pulled into driveway outside.
Richard's head attorney, Mr. Harrison, walked inside briskly.
He carried a heavy leather briefcase under his arm.
Martha brought two hot cups of black coffee in.
They sat down in the formal dining room together.
Mr. Harrison: I reviewed the footage you sent midnight.
Richard: Is it enough to secure full protective orders?
Mr. Harrison: It is more than enough for criminal charges.
Richard: What about the altered inheritance trust documents?
Mr. Harrison opened his briefcase and pulled out papers.
He laid three financial reports across the polished table.
Mr. Harrison: Victoria was using a false identity name.
Richard: What do you mean a false identity name?
Mr. Harrison: Her legal name is actually Victoria Vance.
Mr. Harrison: She pulled this exact scheme four years ago.
Richard stared at the official mugshot on the report.
Victoria had married a wealthy businessman in Chicago prior.
She had attempted to drain his children's trust fund.
She had fled town right before charges were filed.
Richard felt sick to his stomach reading the details.
He had brought a predator into his young daughter's life.
He vowed to make sure she faced full justice.
Richard: Where is she right now, Harrison?
Mr. Harrison: She is upstairs packing her bags to flee.
Richard: She will not leave this house until police arrive.
Heavy footsteps sounded from the wide stairs above.
Victoria came dragging two large designer suitcases down.
She wore a dark coat and dark sunglasses inside.
She looked startled to see the attorney sitting there.
Victoria: What is he doing in our house today?
Richard: He is here to deliver your final legal notice.
Victoria: I am leaving on vacation for a week.
Mr. Harrison: You are not going anywhere, Ms. Vance.
Victoria froze at the sound of her real surname.
The designer suitcase dropped from her trembling hand.
Victoria: How do you know that surname name?
Richard: Your past has finally caught up with you.
