Confronting The Stolen Life

A Poor Woman Interrupted My Wedding With One Forgotten Photo

The wedding guests started whispering loudly amongst themselves in confusion.

Sarah walked down the steps to stand directly by David's side.

She lifted the train of her long white dress off the ground.

She placed her soft hand on the elderly woman's cold back gently.

Sarah: What is your real name, ma'am?

Elderly Woman: My name is Mary, dear child.

Sarah: Mary, you are coming inside with us right now.

Marcus: Sarah, do not bring street people into this holy church!

David: Shut your mouth right now, Marcus!

Marcus: I funded this whole wedding with my own hard money!

David: You paid for it using my mother's stolen inheritance money!

Mary pulled a small worn plastic folder from inside her old jacket.

She handed the thick yellowed legal papers to Sarah carefully.

Sarah scanned the legal stamps and official court seals rapidly.

Sarah: David, these are real property deeds from thirty years ago.

David: Does it show Marcus took the estate unlawfully?

Sarah: Yes, it shows forged signatures on every single page.

Marcus turned around and tried to open his luxury car door fast.

Two tall groomsmen stepped in front of his car to block him.

Groomsman: You are not going anywhere until the police arrive, Marcus.

Marcus: Get your hands off me right this second!

David: You lied to me about my own family for decades!

David felt a deep mixture of rage and relief inside his chest.

His entire life story had been built on a false narrative.

Yet his real mother was standing right here, breathing and alive.

Mary reached up to touch David's face with her thumb.

Mary: I never forgot your bright smile, my darling child.

David: I am so sorry I did not search for you.

Mary: You were just a small child, you did nothing wrong.

The sound of distant police sirens echoed through the city streets.
