The next morning brought cold grey rain outside the windows.
Sarah arrived at the law firm building downtown early morning.
Her top divorce lawyer sat waiting in a large boardroom.
The glass table sparkled under the bright overhead lights.
Sarah placed her printed legal documents onto the polished table.
The lawyer examined the forged signatures with deep concentration.
He confirmed that Mark had committed serious fraud against her.
This evidence gave Sarah complete leverage over the entire estate.
By noon Sarah returned to the large family estate home.
Evelyn sat sipping tea in the sunny formal living room.
Mark stood near the fireplace holding a glass of water.
They looked up with smug expressions when Sarah entered.
Evelyn told Sarah to pack her bags and leave immediately.
She claimed Sarah was no longer welcome in their home.
Sarah walked calmly to the middle of the soft rug.
She dropped a thick stack of white papers onto the table.
The heavy paper stack made a sharp thud sound.
Mark leaned forward and looked at the top paper line.
His face instantly lost all of its natural pink color.
He recognized the secret bank records and forged signatures instantly.
Sarah explained that the police would investigate his financial fraud.
The entire family business empire would collapse in public view.
Evelyn dropped her tea saucer with a loud porcelain clatter.
Hot black tea spilled across the expensive white tablecloth.
She began yelling that Sarah was a scheming evil outsider.
Sarah kept her voice totally calm and completely steady throughout.
She stated her simple demands clearly to both of them.
She wanted full custody of little Lily without any interference.
She demanded the family home title deed transferred to her name.
Mark stared at the floor with total humiliation and silence.
He knew his financial fraud could put him in prison.
His mother gasped dramatically and clutched her gold necklace.
The power in the family had shifted completely to Sarah.
