Mark followed his crying daughter down the wide carpeted stairs.
The air grew chilly as they reached the lower corridor.
At the end of the hall stood a heavy metal door.
A thick steel chain was wrapped around the strong steel handles.
A heavy brass padlock held the thick chain tightly together.
Mark gasped in total shock at the sight of the lock.
He ran forward and pulled on the cold iron chain hard.
It did not move even a single tiny inch.
Mark: Sarah! Are you in there?
A weak sound came from behind the thick steel door.
Sarah: Mark? Is that really you outside?
Mark: Yes, I am here! What happened to you?
Sarah: Eleanor locked me in here three days ago!
Mark turned around with pure rage burning in his dark eyes.
Eleanor had followed them down the stairs with slow steps.
She kept her chin raised high with an icy expression.
Mark: You lying snake!
Eleanor: I did what was best for this wealthy family, Mark.
Mark: You trapped my wife in a cold dark room!
Eleanor: She was going to ask for a large divorce settlement.
Eleanor: She wanted half of your entire trust fund and house.
Mark: That is a complete and total lie, Mother!
Mark pulled out his phone with shaking hands immediately.
He dialed emergency services without waiting another single second.
Mark: Send officers and rescuers to my address right now!
Eleanor stepped forward to try and grab his phone away.
Eleanor: Do not ruin our proud family name over this woman.
Mark: You ruined this family yourself today, Eleanor.
Lily cried loudly and hid behind her father's long coat.
Mark held his frightened daughter very close to his side.
The sound of heavy police sirens echoed from the street above.
