Two police officers in crisp official dark uniforms stepped directly inside the high front entryway.
Their heavy boots made clear solid sounds against the polished wood floor of the mansion.
Evelyn turned toward the entrance in total shock as the police officers stepped inside quickly.
Evelyn: Why are the police here in my private house right now?!
Officer Miller: We received a report regarding the intentional endangerment of a minor child.
Mark took a step back toward his wife as the reality hit him like thunder.
Mark: Officer, my mother claimed it was only sleeping medication for the baby.
Officer Miller: Giving unprescribed drugs to an infant is a severe criminal offense, sir.
Sarah handed her phone directly to the lead police officer to display the clear video.
The officer reviewed the video footage carefully while nodding his head with a stern expression.
Officer Miller: Ma'am, you need to step forward and place your hands behind your back.
Evelyn: You cannot arrest me inside my own son's house over a minor mistake!
Mark looked at his elderly mother with tears of deep anger building in his eyes.
Mark: You put my little daughter in danger every single morning without my knowledge!
The second officer placed silver handcuffs firmly around Evelyn's trembling thin wrists immediately.
Evelyn began weeping loudly as she was led toward the open front door by police.
Evelyn: Mark, please tell them to stop and save your loving mother from this!
Mark: I trusted you with my family and you betrayed us completely, Mom.
The officers carefully escorted Evelyn outside into the waiting police car parked along the driveway.
