Maya adjusted her apron as she walked through the heavy wooden front doors of the Grand estate.
She had worked as a housemaid for the wealthy Sterling family for nearly three years.
Her daily routine involved cleaning the endless marble hallways and caring for young Leo.
Leo was the seven-month-old heir to the massive Sterling fortune.
Maya loved the baby deeply and treated him with the utmost care and affection.
However, the atmosphere inside the grand home had felt tense for weeks.
Victoria, the sleek blonde stepped-mother of the family, was always watching Maya closely.
Victoria wore expensive gold dresses and spoke with a cold, harsh voice to everyone.
She had taken control of the household finances after the old patriarch fell ill.
Maya noticed that Victoria spent hours locked inside the private home office every afternoon.
One morning while dusting the study, Maya stumbled upon a small red plastic object.
It was a red USB flash drive tucked behind a stack of legal documents.
Maya did not know what was stored on the drive at first.
She placed it inside her uniform pocket to keep it safe from being lost.
Later that day, Victoria noticed the drive was missing from its secret spot.
Her face turned completely pale before twisting into pure rage.
She confronted Maya near the bottom of the grand spiral staircase.
Victoria accused Maya of stealing valuable personal items from the master bedroom.
Maya denied taking anything that did not belong to her.
She kept her hand firmly pressed over her pocket to protect the drive.
She knew that whatever was on that drive had to be extremely important.
Victoria made a silent vow to search the entire house until she found it.
The tension between the two women reached a boiling point by late afternoon.
Maya knew she had to figure out what was happening before it was too late.
