The guests slowly began to file out of the grand ballroom, whispering to one another in hushed tones.
Within minutes, the vast room was empty, except for Julian, Elena, and the shattered glass.
Julian: I feel like my entire world was just turned upside down in five minutes.
Elena: It hurts now, but you survived. That’s what matters most.
Julian: If you hadn't slapped that glass out of my hand, I’d be on the floor right now.
Elena: I was terrified I wouldn't reach you in time when I saw her pour it.
Julian: You were fast. And incredibly brave.
Elena: I couldn't let another family go through the pain my family suffered.
Julian: I want to offer you a permanent position at my corporate headquarters.
Elena: Working as a maid?
Julian: No. Head of security and risk management for our entire firm.
Elena: Julian, I don't have a corporate background. I’m just an ordinary woman.
Julian: You have better instincts and more integrity than anyone in my boardroom.
Elena: Are you sure about this? It’s a huge responsibility.
Julian: I need people around me that I can actually trust, Elena. Starting with you.
Elena: In that case... I accept your offer, Julian.
Julian: Thank you. Tomorrow, we start fixing the mess my stepmother made of the business.
Elena: And tomorrow, Victoria and Eleanor will face the judge for attempted murder.
Julian: Justice is finally being served for your brother, Arthur.
Elena: Yes, it is. He can finally rest in peace now.
Julian looked down at the broken crystal glass reflecting the chandelier lights above them.
He had lost a fiancée and a stepmother, but he had gained his life and a true ally.
