Eleanor took a quick step toward the front entrance.
Mark shifted his weight and blocked her path entirely.
Eleanor: Out of my way, Mark!
Mark: You are not leaving this house until the police arrive.
Eleanor: You would call the cops on your own wife?
Mark: You committed grand fraud and put your hands on our children.
Eleanor: I am the mother of your children!
Mark: A real mother protects her family, she does not abuse them for money.
Eleanor reached into her handbag to grab her car keys.
Mark snatched the handbag out of her fingers immediately.
He dumped its contents onto the glass dining table nearby.
A fresh bank book dropped out alongside a passport.
Mark picked up the bank statement and read the total balance.
Over two million dollars sat in an offshore account in her name only.
Mark: You were planning to leave the country, weren't you?
Eleanor: No! That is just an investment account!
Mark: The passport has a one-way ticket confirmation paper tucked inside it!
Eleanor: I was taking a short vacation next week!
Mark: Without me? Without the kids?
Eleanor's strict posture finally cracked completely.
Tears of panic started running down her face.
Eleanor: Mark, please, we can work this out together!
Mark: It is way too late for excuses, Eleanor.
He pulled out his smartphone and dialed three familiar digits.
He put the phone on speaker mode so she could hear.
Dispatcher: Nine-one-one, what is your emergency?
Mark: I need an officer at 414 Elm Street right away.
