Julian walked up the front steps toward the heavy oak entrance doors.
He unlocked the heavy brass lock using his personal set of house keys.
He pushed open the massive doors expecting to hear a quiet house.
Instead he heard high cruel shouting ringing off the high vaulted ceilings.
He stepped across the threshold and froze instantly in pure utter shock.
His elegant wife was towering over his helpless mother on the floor.
Evelyn was trapped on the cold stone without her essential walking cane.
Victoria was shouting terrible insult after insult into the poor woman's face.

The white roses slipped from his grip and scattered across the entryway floor.

Victoria spun around quickly with a look of sheer terror on her face.
Victoria: Julian! You were not supposed to be back until late Friday night!
Julian did not say a single word as he charged forward across the room.
He pushed past Victoria forcefully and stepped directly between the two women.

Julian: How dare you lay a hand on my mother in this house!
Victoria: Julian, wait! She fell down and I was just trying to help!

Victoria stumbled backward into the wall, her green sequins shining in light.
Her face went completely pale as she realized her terrible cruel mistake.
Julian ignored her entirely and dropped down onto his knees beside Evelyn.
He gathered the frail woman into his strong arms with deep tenderness.
Julian: Mom, I am here now. You are completely safe with me.
Evelyn buried her face into her son's suit jacket and sobbed heavily.
