The Law Arrives At Last

A Father Returns Home To Save His Daughter From Danger

Tires crunched sharply on the gravel driveway outside as two police vehicles pulled up fast.

The bright red and blue lights reflected off the polished wooden floor near the front door.

Mark unlocked the heavy deadbolt and opened the front door to welcome the incoming officers.

Police Chief Robert Vance walked inside accompanied by Mark estate attorney, Arthur Pendelton.

Arthur: Mark, are you and your daughter completely unharmed and safe right now?

Mark: We are safe, but I found forged emergency custody papers inside her travel bag.

Chief Vance stepped forward and held out his hand to inspect the paper legal packet.

He scanned the forged signatures and the official notary seal stamped at the bottom page.

Chief Vance: Mrs. Miller, did you sign your husband name on these legal court documents?

Sarah: My lawyer told me everything was handled according to proper regional civil guidelines!

Arthur: I spoke with the court clerk ten minutes ago while driving over here, Chief.

Arthur: No attorney from her family firm ever registered a legitimate motion with the state court.

Chief Vance: This signature is a clear case of third-degree criminal forgery and fraud.

Sarah took a step backward toward the kitchen counter, trembling with sudden overwhelming fear.

Sarah: You cannot arrest me inside my own family house in front of neighbors!

Chief Vance: You have the right to remain silent while we investigate these felony claims.

An officer walked forward and placed official metal handcuffs around Sarah wrists behind her back.

Sarah looked at Mark with tears streaming down her pale cheeks as she pleaded softly.

Sarah: Please tell them to stop, Mark, we can fix this together as a family!

Mark: You lost the right to call us a family when you put our child in danger.

The officers led Sarah out the front door under the shade of the American flag.

Mark watched from the doorway as the police car drove down the quiet residential street.
