David dove across the smooth floor with his arms wide open to cushion the landing.
He caught Lily securely in his arms right before she could strike the hard landing floor.

David pulled his daughter up into his lap and quickly checked her arms and legs.
She was shaken and terrified, but luckily she suffered no serious physical injuries from falling.
