The Mansion On The Hill

A Father Finds Out What His Sister Did To His Daughter

Marcus stood inside the high entry room of his large estate.

The sunlight poured through the high glass windows onto the floor.

He looked at his small daughter Lily playing with her colored blocks.

Lily was only six years old and had a bright smile.

Marcus loved her more than anything else in the whole world.

He worked hard as the main chief executive of a grand company.

His big house felt empty since his sweet wife passed away.

He tried his absolute best to keep Lily safe every single day.

Then his younger sister Chloe came to stay with them last week.

Chloe had lost her job and needed a temporary place to live.

Marcus opened his doors to her without asking any tough questions.

He gave her a nice big bedroom on the second floor.

He paid for her bills and bought her nice new clothes.

Yet Chloe always looked upset when Lily was near her father.

She wanted Marcus to give her money for a new business.

Marcus told her that she needed a solid plan first.

That answer made Chloe feel very bitter inside her heart.

She felt that Lily took away all of her brother's attention.

Marcus walked into his private office to check some main emails.

He left Lily in the main room with her favorite plastic toys.

Chloe watched the little girl from the top of the balcony stairs.

Her face looked very cold and dark in the soft sunlight.

She walked down the long hall toward the open marble balcony.

Lily picked up a small yellow toy car and smiled sweetly.

She looked up and saw her aunt standing near the top steps.

Lily waved her hand to say a quick hello to Chloe.

Chloe did not wave back at the tiny little girl.

She only walked closer with very fast and heavy footsteps.

The house was quiet except for the ticking of the clock.

Marcus signed a set of legal papers on his dark oak desk.

He thought about taking Lily to the bright city park later.

He had no idea what was starting near the upper balcony railings.
