Two uniform security officers stood on the wide front porch in the sun.
Richard pointed sternly at Evelyn, who was still kneeling on the marble floor.
Richard: Get out of my house right now!
Evelyn: Richard, please! Give me one more chance!
The senior guard stepped inside and took Evelyn firmly by her upper arm.
She tried to pull away, but the guard held her securely in place.
Security Officer: Ma'am, you need to come with us quietly right now.
Evelyn: You are making a huge mistake! I am his wife!
Richard: Not anymore. My lawyers will file divorce papers by noon today.
The guards escorted Evelyn out the front doors and down the driveway.
She screamed and yelled as her lavender gown dragged across the concrete path.
Richard shut the heavy front door and locked it tight behind them.
The entire house became completely silent and peaceful once again.
Maya wiped her cheeks with her tiny hands and looked at her dad.
Maya: Is she gone, Daddy?
Richard: Yes, sweetie. She is gone for good, and you are safe.
Richard kissed his daughter's cheek gently and hugged her close to him.
He walked over to the large window that looked out over the yard.
He watched the security car drive away through the grand front gate.
He knew the road ahead would be tough for him and Maya.
They would have to rebuild their lives and learn to trust people again.
But as long as they were together, Richard knew they would be okay.
