The Locked Silver Suitcase

A Father Finds His Missing Daughter Inside A Silver Suitcase

David rushed through the front doors of the grand Dallas estate.

His shoes clicked loudly against the polished white marble floor.

He carried two black briefcases packed with urgent business documents.

His mind was racing with absolute panic and deep fear.

His six-year-old daughter Lily had vanished from her bedroom earlier that morning.

He had called his sister Evelyn as soon as he noticed she was gone.

Evelyn lived in a massive mansion on the edge of town with her husband Richard.

She had claimed she knew nothing about Lily's sudden disappearance.

David did not believe her for a single second.

He noticed a large silver suitcase resting near the base of the grand staircase.

It looked completely out of place in the spotless luxury foyer.

David dropped his briefcases onto the hard floor with a heavy thud.

He dropped to his knees on the cold marble surface.

His hands trembled violently as he leaned over the metallic lock.

He quickly spun the combination dial until it clicked open.

David threw the heavy lid back with all his remaining strength.

Inside the luggage sat little Lily in her pink pajamas.

She was clutching a small framed family photograph against her chest.

Tears swept down her freckled cheeks as she gasped for air.

Lily: DADDY!

David reached into the lined trunk and lifted her into his warm arms.

He pulled her soft body tight against his beating chest.

David: I've got you, sweetheart.

Across the room, Evelyn and Richard gasped in pure terror.

Evelyn raised her trembling hand to cover her open mouth.

Richard stepped back toward the staircase, his face turning pale white.

David stood up slowly, holding his crying child close.

His blue suit was wrinkled, but his posture was rock solid.

He stared straight into Evelyn's wide, nervous eyes.

David: WHERE WERE YOU PLANNING TO TAKE HER?!

Evelyn took a small step forward, opening her mouth to speak.

Her voice quavered as she tried to form simple words.

Evelyn: David, please, it is not what you think.

David: Shut your mouth, Evelyn.

He turned his back on them and walked toward the heavy front doors.

He looked back over his sturdy shoulder with complete hatred.

David: YOU ARE SICK!

Evelyn suddenly whirled around toward her quiet husband.

She slammed her open hands against Richard's chest in a rage.

Richard stumbled backward into the mahogany banister with a loud crash.

David stepped out into the bright afternoon sunlight and closed the door behind him.
