Father: Hey, sweetie. You should be resting upstairs with Uncle Thomas.
Evelyn: I heard Mommy shouting... Is Mommy going away?
Richard looked up at Sarah, who turned her face away toward the window, refusing to meet her daughter's innocent eyes.
Father: Mommy and I need to sort out some adult things, Evelyn. But no matter what happens, you are never going to have to pretend to be sick ever again.
Evelyn: Can I go outside tomorrow, Daddy? Can I go to the park and use the swings?
Father: Yes, baby. You can go to the park every single day if you want. You can run, you can jump, and you never have to hide your legs again.
Tears welled up in Evelyn's eyes, but this time they were tears of relief. She threw her small arms around Richard's neck, holding onto him with all her tiny strength.
Evelyn: I was so scared, Daddy... Mommy said if I stepped out of the chair, bad men would come and take our home away.

Father: Give me the pen, Arthur.
Sarah rushed out of the office, her eyes wild as she saw the official papers spread out on the hallway table.
Mother: Don't sign that, Richard! If you sign that, we lose our legal right to any future claims!
Father: Good. We don't want a single penny from them.
With a firm hand, Richard signed his name on the final line of the court document, officially ending the four-million-dollar lawsuit and bringing his wife's fraudulent plan to an absolute halt.
Lawyer: Thank you, Richard. You did the right thing for your daughter. Now, regarding the custody filings and the upcoming law enforcement inquiry, I recommend you secure full temporary custody immediately.
Father: File the paperwork today, Arthur. Evelyn stays with me.
