Victoria backed away slowly toward the front entrance doors of the home.
Victoria: Mark, you are completely misunderstanding the whole situation here!
Mark: Hand me that bag right now or I call the police department!
Lily: Daddy, she put the shiny necklace inside her purse pocket!
Victoria realized she was caught without any realistic way to escape.
She unzipped her leather purse with frantic, shaking fingers near the door.
She pulled out the golden heirloom necklace and set it down hard.
The precious gold chain sparkled under the bright LED ceiling lights.
Victoria: I needed money to pay off an urgent personal investment debt!
Mark: You stole from my late wife to pay personal debts?
Victoria: My business startup failed and I was facing a severe lawsuit!
Mark: You could have talked to me instead of stealing and lying!
Victoria: You would have judged me for making terrible financial mistakes!
Mark: And what about dragging my daughter into a locked laundry room?
Victoria: She saw me take it! I panicked and needed five minutes!
Mark felt a wave of disgust washing completely over his body.
He picked up the gold necklace carefully and held it close.
This heirloom was supposed to go to Lily on her eighteenth birthday.
Victoria had tried to pawn family history for quick cash money savings.
Worse than that, she had terrified his motherless six-year-old child.
Mark: You are leaving this house right now, Victoria.
Victoria: Mark, please! We are married! We can get a lawyer!
Mark: My family lawyer will contact you by Monday morning early.
Victoria: You cannot just throw me out over one mistaken choice!
Mark: You mistreated my child and broke my trust completely today.
Lily: Daddy, is she going away forever now?
Mark: Yes, sweetie. She is never hurting you again.
Victoria realized there was no fixing the damage she had caused.
She grabbed her coat and rushed out the front door in tears.
The heavy oak front door slammed shut, echoing through the home.
