A Sweet Surprise Revealed

A Cruel Stepmother Threw Away His Birthday Cake

Mark walked back to the front entrance table and picked up the white bakery box.

He brought it over to the center table and placed it right before Julian.

The fresh box was decorated with a bright golden bow and soft blue lettering.

Julian leaned in close, his nose twitching at the sweet smell of vanilla bean.

Julian: Is that really another birthday cake for me?

Mark: It is the best cake in the entire city, made just for you.

Mark carefully untied the bright red ribbon and lifted the thick cardboard lid.

Inside sat a breathtaking custom cake shaped like a shiny blue race car.

Bright yellow headlights made of yellow frosting shone brightly on the blue hood.

Seven small colorful candles stood proudly along the top roof of the car cake.

Julian let out a loud gasp of wonder, his tear-stained face lighting up immediately.

Julian: Is that mine, Dad?!

Mark: It sure is, my big seven-year-old birthday boy!

Julian wiped the last remaining tears from his eyes and let out a laugh.

A big, joyful smile spread across his entire face as he looked at it.

Julian: It looks like a real fast racing car!

Mark: I ordered it three days ago so it would be extra special.

Evelyn stood in the background, her arms limp at her sides in defeated shock.

She watched the boy smile warmly, realizing her cruel gesture had completely failed.

The joy in the room was so thick it seemed to push her out.

Mark reached into his pocket and pulled out a small silver box of matches.

He carefully lit each of the seven candles one by one with steady hands.

The tiny flames flickered gently, casting a warm glow over Julian's happy face.

Mark: Make a special birthday wish before you blow them out, Julian.

Julian: I know exactly what I want to wish for today, Dad.

Julian closed his eyes tightly and took a deep, happy breath of sweet air.

He thought about his father's strong protection and the warmth of his true home.

With a strong burst of air, he blew out all seven candles together.

Soft white smoke drifted upward toward the yellow balloons floating near the ceiling.

Mark clapped his hands together proudly and cheered out loud for his young boy.

Mark: Happy birthday to the best son in the whole wide world!
