It was a bright sunny afternoon in the middle of late July week.
David had an urgent morning meeting at his corporate city office board room.
He carried his black leather briefcase as he finished up his final report.
Back at the house Evelyn walked into the bright sunlit spacious living area.
Lily sat near the big window quietly reading her favorite old storybook.
Evelyn marched over with her tall heels clicking loudly on the hard floor.
She held a pitcher filled with freezing ice water in her manicured hand.
Evelyn: Why are you sitting here staring out the big window again?
Lily: I am just reading my book while I wait for my dad.
Evelyn: You are always in my way in this big clear open room!
Lily: I am not doing anything wrong, Evelyn. I am being quiet.
Evelyn: You need to show me total respect in this luxury home now!
Lily: I do respect you, but I just want to read now.
Evelyn: You will call me Mom from this exact moment forward, child!
Lily: My real mom is in heaven. I cannot call you that.
Evelyn grew furious and lifted the cold heavy glass pitcher straight up high.
She poured the icy freezing water right over the young helpless girl's head.
The cold stream splashed all over Lily's face and soft pale beige dress.
Lily gasped in shock as the freezing water soaked her hair and shoulders.
She began crying hysterically while holding her small cold hands tightly together.
Lily: Please stop! I am so sorry! Please stop doing that!
Evelyn: Say the word Mom right now or I will pour more!
Lily: Please! It is so cold! Why are you so mean?
Evelyn: Because you are nothing but a spoiled little burden to us!
Evelyn glared down with extreme rage as her gold earrings swung wildly around.
She leaned right into Lily's wet face with a terrible sharp scary glare.
Lily sobbed loudly as water dripped down her chin onto her shivering lap.
She felt completely helpless trapped inside her heavy rolling wheelchair right there.
Evelyn laughed softly in a mean low voice while shaking the empty pitcher.
Evelyn: Your father will never believe a single word you tell him!
Lily: My dad loves me! He will protect me from you!
Evelyn: He loves me now and he wants a normal easy family life!
Lily: That is not true! He misses my real mommy every day!
Evelyn: Do not speak her name in this house ever again, child!
Evelyn raised her hand threateningly as if to grab the crying child's arm.
Lily pulled back in fear and held her hands over her soaked face.
The ambient sound of dripping water echoed through the large quiet high room.
Evelyn turned around to fetch another bucket from the nearby big utility room.
She was determined to break the small girl's spirit once and for all.
She did not care about the child's health or her deep emotional trauma.
She only cared about total power inside the rich family home estate structure.
She picked up a metal bucket near the heavy double kitchen door entrance.
She filled it with more cold tap water from the deep metal sink.
Her eyes burned with dark jealousy and cold cruel selfish pride right then.
She walked back toward the living room where Lily was crying softly alone.
She had no idea that someone was walking up the main outdoor driveway.
