Mark heard the loud sound of splashing water echoing through the high hall ceiling.
He rushed out of the management office to see what caused the sudden commotion.
A crowd of shocked guests had gathered in a circle near the main entrance.
Mark pushed his way through the heavy wooden doors into the central lobby room.
His heart stopped the moment he saw his young daughter shivering in her chair.
Ice cubes were scattered across her small lap and stuck in her wet hair.
Victoria was standing over the poor girl with a angry look on her face.
Mark ran across the marble floor as fast as his feet could move.
Mark: Lily!
He reached the blue wheelchair and immediately scooped his weeping daughter into his arms.
Lily held onto his neck tightly while shaking violently from the freezing cold water.
Mark: I've got you, baby, you're safe!
Lily: She poured it all over me, Daddy!
Mark turned toward Victoria with total fury burning deep inside his eyes.
Victoria quickly changed her tone and tried to look completely innocent.
Victoria: Mark, it was just a terrible accident, I tripped over her wheel!
Mark: You are lying through your teeth right now!
Mark raised his voice so every single person in the hall could hear clearly.
He pointed a firm finger directly at Victoria's soaked silk red dress.
Mark: I saw you leaning down and threatening my daughter!
Victoria: She is lying to you because she hates me!
Lily: No I'm not, Daddy, she told me to beg her!
Mark grabbed a thick linen tablecloth from the nearest table with one hand.
He wrapped the warm cloth securely around Lily's trembling little shoulders.
Victoria stepped forward to touch Mark's arm, but he backed away instantly.
Mark: Keep your hands off both of us!
The crowd began whispering loudly as they realized what had actually happened.
Victoria looked around the room as her fake reputation started breaking down.
