A heavy silence fell over the lawn as the diamond ring hit the grass.
Mark looked down at the ring and then looked up at Sarah.
He realized there was no fixing the massive damage he had caused.
Suddenly, a black sedan pulled up quickly near the wedding arch.
The car door opened and Mr. Vance stepped out with a briefcase.
He walked fast across the lawn directly toward the wooden altar.
Lawyer: I have the injunction order signed by the county judge!
Richard took a step back and tried to turn toward the parking area.
Lawyer: Do not walk away, Richard. You have been formally served.
Mr. Vance handed a thick white envelope directly to Richard's chest.
Lawyer: The judge froze all transfer claims on the estate trust fund.
David: Thank goodness... the home is completely safe now.
Sarah hugged her father tightly as tears of relief spilled down her cheeks.
Her father wrapped his arms around her and held her close.
David: I am so sorry I almost lost your mother's land, Sarah.
Sarah: It was never your fault, Dad. They lied to you.
Mr. Vance opened his briefcase and pulled out a blue folder.
Lawyer: Furthermore, we found the original revised will from Sarah's mother.
Richard: That old will was superseded by the mortgage agreement!
Lawyer: Not according to state probate law, Mr. Richard.
The lawyer showed the legal documents to the gathering crowd of guests.
The estate had been placed into an irrevocable trust years ago.
David never had the legal right to sign it away as collateral.
Richard's entire illegal scheme had been completely useless from the start.
Richard looked at his lawyer who was sitting quietly in the back row.
His own lawyer shook his head slowly and refused to step forward.
Richard: This is a complete disaster for our firm's reputation.
David: You brought this disgrace upon yourself through sheer greed.
Mark dropped to his knees on the lawn near Sarah's feet.
Mark: Sarah, please give me one more chance to prove myself!
Sarah: Stand up, Mark. Have some dignity on this lawn.
Mark: I will leave my father's firm! I will start over!
Sarah: You had your chance to stand up for truth when it mattered.
Sarah stepped back from Mark and took her father's arm gently.
She turned her back on the altar and the ruined flower decorations.
