Clara clutched the precious glass vial tightly against her white ruffled maid apron with trembling fingers now.
She sat on her knees on the cold white marble floor while her chest heaved with air.
Up on the grand balcony, Vivian leaned over the dark railing with wide eyes full of fury.
Vivian: What?! She caught it?!
Clara: You tried to destroy his life-saving medicine!
Vivian: You are just a filthy maid, nobody will ever believe your ridiculous lies!
Vivian started walking briskly down the curved marble stairs to grab the bottle away from Clara's hands.
Suddenly, the heavy dark mahogany double front doors slammed open with an explosive bang against wall.
Arthur Sterling stepped inside the foyer with his gray tailored jacket wet from the heavy outdoor rain.
He stopped dead in his tracks when he saw Clara kneeling beside the scattered baby clothes nearby.
Arthur: What on earth is happening in my home right now?
Clara: Sir! She purposely threw your son's vital heart medicine off the balcony!
Clara: She wanted to ruin his treatment while you were gone!
Arthur turned his stern gaze toward Vivian, who was standing frozen on the middle staircase landing.
Vivian's pale face turned completely white as she tried to fix her elegant purple gown nervously.
Vivian: Arthur, darling, she is lying to save her own silly job!
Vivian: She dropped the bottle herself while cleaning the banister!
Clara lifted her head and pointed directly to the high ceiling balcony where the box sat open.
Clara: Check the security camera mounted right beside the wall painting, Mr. Sterling!
Clara: It recorded every single movement she made near the balcony railing!
Arthur looked up at the tiny red light blinking quietly on the dark wood wall paneling above.
His face hardened into dark stone as he realized his new wife had betrayed his sweet family.
