The Danger On The Stairs

A Brave Maid Saved A Boy From His Wicked Stepmother

By three o'clock in the afternoon, the rain was pouring heavily against the high mansion glass windows.

Leo came downstairs carrying a colorful drawing he had made to show his father later that night.

He walked softly across the upper landing toward the grand curved marble staircase.

Victoria stepped out of the master bedroom suite, her face twisted in deep anger.

She had just received a phone call saying her financial transfer had been unexpectedly blocked by bank auditors.

She saw young Leo holding his drawing and felt an immediate surge of cruel resentment.

Victoria: Get out of my sight, you useless little brat!

Leo: I was just waiting for my dad to come home!

Victoria: Your father does not care about your stupid drawings!

Victoria marched toward the child and grabbed his small arm with a rough, tight grip.

Leo cried out in fear and tried to pull his arm back from her sharp fingernails.

Victoria pulled him directly toward the top edge of the steep marble stairs.

Clara was walking across the foyer below, carrying a basket of clean bath linens.

She looked up and saw Victoria aggressively pulling the crying boy near the steep drop.

Clara dropped the linen basket instantly onto the marble floor and sprinted toward the staircase.

Victoria: Accidents happen so easily in big houses like this!

Victoria gave the frightened boy a harsh shove toward the top of the smooth marble steps.

Leo lost his footing on the slippery edge and began to tumble backward out of control.

Clara scrambled up the stairs with incredible speed, reaching out her open arms.

She threw herself forward onto the step below Leo and caught the falling boy securely against her chest.

The impact knocked the breath out of Clara as she braced her body against the hard marble step.

She pulled Leo tightly into her arms, shielding his head and body from any injury.

Leo wept hysterically into Clara's neck, trembling violently from the terrible shock.

Clara stood up on the landing, holding the frightened boy firmly in her strong arms.

Her body was shaking with intense rage as she glared up at the woman in emerald green.

Victoria: You should have minded your own business, Clara!

Clara: Don't you ever dare to touch him again!

Victoria: He tripped over his own shoes, you stupid servant!

Clara: I saw exactly what you did with your own hands!

Victoria took a quick step down the stairs, intending to grab Leo away from Clara.

Clara stepped forward courageously and stood her ground, refusing to let Victoria come any closer.

Clara: You are a monster, and your vicious game ends today!

Victoria: I am the mistress of this house, and you are fired!

Clara: You have no power here anymore, Victoria!

Victoria raised her hand to strike Clara across the face in a fit of rage.

Clara moved faster, raising her arm and standing firm as a wall between Victoria and the child.

She kept Leo safely behind her back while confronting the wicked stepmother face to face.

The atmosphere on the grand staircase was thick with terrifying drama and overwhelming tension.
