Sarah screamed as she fell straight down toward the main entrance area below.
The pastel pink dress she wore fluttered wildly as she dropped fast.
Mark did not hesitate for a single second when he saw her slip.
He leaped down the final section of the grand staircase without holding back.
His navy blue three-piece suit caught the air as he dove toward the center.
The white marble floor was cold and unforgiving straight underneath the high balcony.
Mark threw his whole body across the floor with arms outstretched wide.
He knew he only had one small moment to catch his falling wife.
His heart pounded inside his chest like a loud heavy hammer.
He collided with Sarah just inches above the polished stone floor.
Mark wrapped both arms around her body to protect her from the hard impact.
They slid across the smooth marble surface together in a loud rush.
Mark took the full weight of the hit on his own shoulder and back.
The loud sound of sliding leather echoed throughout the wide empty house.
They came to a sudden stop right near the tall glass front doors.
Mark immediately dropped to his knees while holding Sarah tightly against his chest.
He checked her face and hands with trembling fingers right away.
Mark: Sarah! Look at me, please open your eyes!
Sarah gasped for air as fresh tears streamed down her soft cheeks.
She placed her trembling hands over her belly right away in fear.
Sarah: Our baby... is our baby okay, Mark?
Mark: I have got you, sweetheart, you are safe in my arms now.
Up on the balcony, Victoria stood completely still against the iron rail.
Her mouth was open wide in utter shock as she looked down below.
She had not meant for Sarah to slip over the edge like that.
Her face turned as white as her suit as reality set in fully.
Victoria: Mark... is she... is she alive down there?
Mark slowly raised his head and stared up at his mother with pure rage.
His eyes were filled with tears of anger and shock at what happened.
Mark: Do not ever speak to me again, Mom!
Victoria: It was an accident, Mark, you have to believe me!
Mark: You shoved her, Victoria! I saw it with my own eyes!
Mark pulled his modern smartphone out of his inner jacket pocket quickly.
His fingers shook as he tapped the emergency call buttons on the screen.
He put the phone to his ear while cradling Sarah close to his heart.
Mark: Send the police immediately! My mother just tried to kill my wife!
