Victoria stumbled backward, falling hard onto the cold marble floor in her high heels.
She looked up at Mark, her face pale as all her greedy plans crumbled instantly.
Victoria: Mark, please, it was just a misunderstanding!
Mark: You will never lay a hand on my daughter again!
Mark pointed his finger directly toward the wide front door with total authority.
Mark: Get out of my house and out of my life forever!
Victoria scrambled to her feet, trying desperately to adjust her expensive evening dress.
Victoria: You cannot throw me out over a silly childhood lie!
Mark: You are a cruel woman, and you are leaving this property right now.
Mark did not hesitate for a single second as he called his legal counsel on his phone.
Mark: Cancel the wedding venue, freeze all shared accounts, and draft a restraining order immediately.
Victoria realized there was no way she could talk her way out of this disaster.
She glared at the young girl before turning around and marching toward the grand doors.
She slammed the massive oak doors shut behind her, leaving a heavy silence in the hall.
Mark took a deep, shaky breath and immediately turned back to his shivering daughter.
He carefully wheeled Lily into the warm living room, away from the wet marble floor.
He wrapped a thick, warm blanket around her small shoulders to stop her shaking.
Mark: I am so sorry, Lily, I should have seen who she really was.
Lily: Is she really gone forever, Daddy?
Mark: She will never come back here, I promise you with my whole life.
Mark pulled the stuffed bear down from the high shelf and placed it in Lily's hands.
Lily hugged the toy close to her chest, letting out a long sigh of true relief.
Mark knew he had made a terrible mistake by trusting the wrong person with their lives.
He vowed that from this day forward, he would listen to his daughter above anyone else.
They sat together by the fireplace, holding hands as the warmth filled the big room.
