Jax walked down the porch steps toward his truck, opening the passenger door to reveal little Lily sitting quietly inside. Big Dave was sitting next to her, holding a small box of fruit juice that he had bought at the corner store. Lily looked up with wide eyes as her mother approached the truck, her face lighting up despite the swelling bruise on her cheek.
Lily: Mommy! You're okay!
Sarah: Oh, my sweet baby girl!
Sarah rushed forward, pulling Lily out of the truck and holding her tight against her chest as fresh tears flowed down her cheeks. Lily wrapped her small arms around her mother's neck, holding on with all the strength her little body possessed.
Lily: I gave them my dollar bill, Mommy! The big biker man said he would protect us!
Sarah: I know, baby... I know. They saved us both.
Jax reached into his pocket and pulled out the crumpled one-dollar bill that Lily had handed him at the clubhouse gate. He held it out to her with a warm, gentle smile softening his rugged features.
Jax: Here you go, kiddo. You earned this back. You're the bravest little girl I've ever met.
Lily: Keep it, mister. So you remember to come visit us.
Jax: Tell you what. I'll frame it and hang it up on the clubhouse wall so every man in our crew remembers who we work for.
Hawk: That dollar bought you a whole club full of uncles, little lady. Whenever you need anything, you just call.
Sarah wiped her eyes, looking at Jax with deep gratitude that words could barely express. The sun was beginning to set over the rolling hills of the ranch, painting the sky in deep shades of orange and purple.
Sarah: I don't know how I'll ever repay you, Jax. Tom always said you were the best man he knew.
Jax: Tom was family, Sarah. And family doesn't leave each other behind, no matter how tough things get.
Sarah: What happens with the ranch now?
Jax: Our legal team will handle the court filings tomorrow morning. Marcus won't ever step foot on this land again, and the life insurance money will be placed into a secure trust fund for Lily.
Lily: Does that mean we get to stay in our home?
Jax: That's right, sweetie. Nobody is ever taking your home away again.
Lily smiled through her lingering tears, leaning her head against her mother's shoulder as the heavy rumble of motorcycle engines filled the evening air once more. The Iron Brotherhood crew lined up their bikes along the dirt road, ready to escort Sarah and Lily safely back inside their home. Justice had been served, the stolen inheritance was secured, and a bruised little girl had found an entire family ready to guard her life forever.
